Many of you in Baler know me as someone who paints, writes stories, and works closely with nature-based solutions— all inspired by the place we call home. Over the years, I’ve been lucky to explore our coastlines around the Philippines
Knowing that many of you now have children some even my godchildren. I wanted to create something for them.
Something that would help them see how magical our ecosystems are; from the dugongs that graze quietly in seagrass beds, to the coral reefs and mangrove forests that protect our shores. Because what we love, we learn to protect. So here it is, my debut children’s storybook: “Donna the Dugong – A Tale from the Seagrass Meadows.” A story woven with real Philippine wildlife, science, and heart and illustrated with my original paintings. This book is for kids growing up in the Philippines, and for anyone who believes that love for nature begins with a story.
